Miz Vol:10

17 July – 24 August

Established in 2011 with the aim of becoming a national and international platform for contemporary art within Turkey’s established cultural ecosystem, Gallery / Miz has launched its curated exhibition series titled “Miz Volume.” This special selection, known for showcasing a diverse range of contemporary artworks, will be open to the public from July 17 to August 24, 2024.

“Miz Volume 10”; It brings together the works of Aşkın Akman, Belmin Pilevneli, Çağdaş Erçelik, Damla Yalçın, Loya Kader Öztürkmen, Murat Berköz, and Tifak Arslan, produced with different techniques and materials through different creative processes.

In this group exhibition, Gallery / Miz, which supports versatile and interdisciplinary works, showcases Aşkın Akman’s canvases where fragmented and whole forms merge with different materials to depict geometric, organic, and serendipitous portrayals of hope and sorrow in nature. The exhibition also features Belmin Pilevneli’s compositions, inspired by nature and created using traditional techniques to give dimension to paper through organic, amorphous, and cyclical forms. Additionally, Çağdaş Erçelik’s sculptures, which question traditional and societal norms for a better world, are presented.

In the exhibition, opening on July 17th, Damla Yalçın presents embroidered hoop surfaces that embody a phenomenological approach to personal memory and the intrinsic value of interior spaces. Loya Kader Türkmen contributes works depicting Istanbul segments created with various materials and techniques. Murat Berköz’s artworks feature dramatic figures reflecting pain and suffering, while Tifak Arslan’s pieces depict figures existing as symbolic signs of life within stillness.”
