Don't Touch This!

Gallery /Miz opens the new season with Murat Germen‘s solo exhibition “Don’t Touch This!” This exhibition brings together a series of the artist’s digital works, comprising photographic evidence taken during the crime scene investigations of offenses committed against the city. These images, which could be classified as evidence, are sourced from an archival collection transformed through an interface in a web browser environment. The photographs in the exhibition are uploaded in sets of six to a digital interface designed by Emrah Kavlak, simulating a three-dimensional world. Through parametric selections and the movement of a computer mouse, digital photo-collages are generated, providing various perspectives. In this series, Germen produces new visual and content layers from existing concrete photographs, creating abstract images. In other words, he transforms concrete photographs into abstract visualities. The exhibition aims to convey the scale of urban, cultural, and architectural destruction by reinterpreting it through a deconstructionist lens.
